CHARITY MATCH: ALT WALES VS FANS

Prior to Wales’ penultimate World Cup Qualifier on Saturday, Alternative Wales held a charity match with the Wales Supporters Team at Cardiff International Sports Campus in support of Tenovus Cancer Care!

Alternative Wales is a Welsh football culture fanzine and podcast with the aim of giving a platform to the creative, diverse and entertaining people who follow Welsh football. On Saturday, they pulled together with the Wales Supporters Team for a charity football game to raise money for a very worthy cause.

Tenovus Cancer Care is a partner of the FAW and is now the leading cancer research body in Wales. The charity’s aim is to give anyone affected by cancer, in Wales and beyond, the best access to the treatment and support they need.

The charity was chosen in solidarity with Welsh internationals David Brooks and Dan Barden, who were recently diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma and testicular cancer respectively.

The match was played on the brand new External 3G Pitch at Cardiff International Sports Campus in Leckwith and ended in a 3-2 victory for the Wales Supporters Team. FAW Chief Executive Noel Mooney (pictured above) even made an appearance for the winning side.

We’d like to thank Ryan March and Alternative Wales for choosing Cardiff City House of Sport as their venue for this brilliant charity match. More than £1000 has been raised for Tenovus Cancer Care and you can still donate here: https://justgiving.com/fundraising/walesdbdb
